At 64 samples, playback sometimes won't start after a mixing change, but pressing play again gets it going.įocusrite tech support, which has been very supportive, have suggested that the problem could be my DirectX Driver which LatencyMon shows to have a highest execution time of 0.52 ms. The only difference I notice is that there's significantly more popping and clicking at 64 samples than at 1024 samples. With a sample buffer size of 1024 samples, round trip latency is 97 ms (4274 samples). With a sample buffer size of 64 samples, round trip latency is 9.3 ms (412 samples). I updated to the latest 1.10b3 version of the driver which drastically improved performance but not enough to eliminate the popping and clicking. I'm hearing consistent popping and crackling (sounds like bacon frying in another room) while mixing with sample buffer settings of 64 to 1024 samples on my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8. Please advise. What can I do to stop the popping and clicking during playback? I'm using the Izotope Production Suite for mixing and I understand that this suite is CPU intensive but my CPU never breaks a sweat. I haven't been able to record for almost 2 years. The sample rates are the same for the session and imported files, so it seems unusual that this occurs. I have noticed a further problem where imported audio into PT10 plays slower and has a longer track time than it should. I am beginning to feel the fault is with the Mbox 2, as the issue occurs even when Pro Tools is uninstalled and I'm just using guitar sims on their own. I have been through the thread "READ THIS Before Posting!" thread and have followed the instructions (turning off fan control, turning off USB power management, etc). I have been using Pro Tools since PT7 was out so I understand the inner workings of it, and have had no problems until upgrading to this new laptop with PT9 and now PT10. It occurs not just in Pro Tools but also through stand alone programs such as various guitar amp sims (Amplitube 4 for instance). I am still getting the same pops and clicks. On the suggestion of users in the above thread I replaced my HDD in the laptop (32mb cache, 7200rpm with a hybrid 4GB SSD section). The previous issue is noted in this thread: I have had a previous issue which was unresolved and has left me without the use of my recording setup for almost 2 years.
